Notre planète, communautés du monde addresses all the outcomes of the Grade 3 Alberta Social Studies Program of Studies. In the student resource Notre planète, communautés du monde, students learn about the lifestyles of people around the world and the differences and similarities between the different lifestyles encountered and their own. By learning how people live in other parts of the world, students discover and understand values that are important in other communities while learning about the relationships between Canada and other parts of the world. The student’s resource is divided into four units and ten chapters. Each unit invites students to explore how people live in other communities. The chapters help to answer students’ questions on the different places and lifestyles and introduce students from India, Peru, Tunisia and Ukraine. Most importantly, this resource is about children worldwide. The students meet children from Alberta who share with them their learning and children from other countries who help them discover their communities.
